What should I focus on when reading dentist reviews?

Focus on recent reviews that mention the dentist’s communication style, treatment outcomes, and office environment. Consistent praise for thorough explanations and gentle techniques is a good sign, while repeated complaints about rushed appointments or billing confusion suggest you may want to keep looking.

How can I verify a dentist’s credentials?

Check the dentist’s license on the Virginia Board of Dentistry website and confirm any additional certifications listed, such as a specialty fellowship. Professional memberships, like the American Dental Association, also indicate a commitment to ongoing education. If the office provides biographies, review the dentist’s training background and years of practice.

What’s the best way to prepare for my first appointment?

Call the office to confirm that they accept your insurance and ask about the length of an initial exam. Request information on any paperwork you should bring, such as a list of current medications. Arriving a few minutes early helps you complete forms without delay.
