What should I look for in a dentist’s credentials?

Check that the dentist holds a current dental license in Hawaii and any additional board certification for a specialty you need. Verify graduation from an accredited dental school and look for continuing-education courses that show a commitment to staying current with techniques. Credentials listed on the practice’s website or state dental board can confirm this.

How can patient reviews help me choose a dentist in Honolulu?

Reviews give insight into how a practice handles scheduling, communication, and patient comfort. Look for repeated comments about thorough explanations of procedures, gentle handling of anxiety, and punctuality. Balanced feedback that mentions both strengths and areas for improvement helps you gauge reliability and whether the office meets your expectations for care.

What questions should I ask during a first call to a new dental office?

Ask whether the dentist accepts your insurance and what portion of the fee is covered. Inquire about the availability of same-day or emergency appointments, typical wait times for new patients, and the range of services offered, especially if you need a specialist. Clarify the office’s sterilization protocols and whether they provide digital records for easy access.
