What should I look for in a dentist’s credentials and office standards?

Check that the dentist is licensed by the California Dental Board and, if you need specialized care, that they have additional board certification. The office should follow OSHA infection‑control guidelines, keep instruments sterilized, and maintain a clean environment. Staff professionalism and clear communication are also key signs of quality care.

How can I evaluate patient reviews to decide if a dentist is right for me?

Read several recent reviews rather than focusing on a single rating. Look for comments about punctuality, how the dentist explains procedures, and the comfort level of both adults and children. Consistent praise for gentle technique and responsive staff usually indicates a reliable practice, while repeated complaints about rushed appointments may be a warning sign.

What questions should I ask when I call a dental office for the first time?

Ask about the dentist’s specialties and whether they treat your specific needs, such as orthodontics or pediatric care. Inquire about accepted insurance plans, typical waiting periods for new patients, and the process for emergency appointments. Clarify what you need to bring to the first visit and any preparation required for the procedure you’re considering.
